
Annapurna Range and the town of Pokhara are located in central Nepal. There are three major trekking routes in this region: To Jomsom, to the Annapurna sanctuary and the circuit of entire Annapurna massif. Pokhara is also a good starting place for number of short treks of 3 to 7 days duration. Mustang is also geographically a part of the Annapurna Region, but because treks to mustang are subject to special restrictions, therefore a separate permit need to be taken.
About two thirds of the trekkers in Nepal visit the Annapurna region. The area is easily accessible, hotels in the hills are plentiful and treks here offer good scenery of both high mountains and lowland villages. No matter where you trek in the Annapurna region, you will eventually pass through Pokhara, this is the toursitic city of Nepal also popular as city of lakes. fantastic view of Annapurna range can be also seen from Pokhara city. The trek to Jomsom begins a short journey by bus from Pokhara or by flight to jomsom and also around the Annapurna trek ends at the same point. A spectacular panorama of Nepal’s central Himalaya, the Annapurnas, Machhapuchhre and Manaslu, dominates the skyline.
